I’d like to take a moment to provide an update on Cooper P., an eleven-year-old boy from Hope, Maine and how our volunteer pilots & earth angels continue to spark joy & hope in his life! Our Mission Coordination Team has been working with his family since 2016 to ensure that distance is never an obstacle for Cooper to access life-saving medical care. He was featured in a Thankful Thursday Newsletter from August 2019.

Cooper suffers from Polymicrogyria, a condition characterized by abnormal development of the brain before birth and Epilepsy. He must travel regularly to Boston Children’s Hospital for specialized treatment. We’ve had the privilege of assisting Cooper and his family since 2016 by scheduling nearly 50 flights of healing and hope. He and his family are always a pilot favorite!

On their most recent trip, Angel Flight NE Volunteer Pilot, Shakeel M. – who’s been an Angel Flight NE volunteer pilot since 1996 and instrumental in the support he provides for Maine patients – helped to provide an unforgettable experience for Cooper.

He shared the following after flying Cooper & his mother on a round-trip:
“I requested a “HIGH FIVE” from Boston Air Traffic Control for 11 year old Cooper. Got an exceptionally wonderful response from ATC. Cooper & Lori were very excited and pleased.”

Please keep Cooper in your prayers for his continued treatments. As with all of our patients, they are forever a part of the Angel Flight NE family. Mission/Flight requests – like Cooper’s – happen daily and we feel blessed to be here for our patients. As with all of our patients, we are here for Cooper and his family as long and as often as they need our help.
