PA Patient Flown to MA by AFNE Volunteer Pilot
I would like to introduce you to Kolene S. – a patient from Enola, PA – that’s battled her disease for many years. She was only recently introduced to Angel Flight NE at the recommendation of Dana Farber after many lengthy trips back and forth for treatment.
From the moment our mission coordination team spoke with Kolene, we assured her we would be happy to help. We offered our assistance with both free air transportation and ground support for as long and as often as she needs. We only wished she had been connected to us sooner to ease the burden she has faced for so many years.
Soon after we listed her first request, Brent D. and his co-pilot Isabella were more than happy to volunteer to fly Kolene home – this being Brent’s first Angel Flight NE Trip. When he found out that this was Kolene’s first trip as well, we all agreed it was meant to be! Brent shared that he hopes to have the opportunity to help her again.
Putting Patients At Ease
Kolene is extremely appreciative of the support not only by our compassionate pilots but also the ground transportation which was generously facilitated by AutoFair Ford of Haverhill. All of our volunteers – in the air and on the ground – always go above and beyond to make sure our patients are comfortable during the entire trip. We could not do what we do without their amazing support and commitment to our mission.
Kolene flew again this past Tuesday and has several more treatments scheduled that we plan to help her with. As with all of our patients, Kolene is forever a part of our Angel Flight NE family.
Mission/Flight requests – like Kolene’s – happen daily and we are privileged to have the opportunity to not only fly but deeply care for all who turn to us for help at difficult times in their lives. As with all of our patients, we are here for Kolene and her family for as long and often as they need our help and to ensure the best possible outcome.
Thank You and God Bless You for your support and belief in our healing mission. With your help and belief in our mission, we can ensure that distance is never an obstacle for patients, like Kolene.
Warmest regards,
Fr. Larry & the AFNE Staff
